The HR & Operations Manager will work in conjunction with the Director of People Operations to manage and administer core human resources and operational functions that support the firm’s business objectives. The ideal candidate will exercise discretion and judgment in the interpretation and application of employment policies, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures. They will also serve as a trusted resource for both team members and leadership, and act in the best interest of clients, the firm, and the team through a balance of diplomacy, confidentiality, and strict adherence to compliance requirements.
Responsibilities The responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and additional duties may be assigned.
Approximately 75% of the candidate’s time will be spent managing and administering core HR functions, and 25% on Operational functions.
HR Functions May Include:
Administer and oversee semi-monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and resolution of discrepancies.
Manage and advise on benefits administration, open enrollments, team communications, and serve as a liaison with benefit providers.
Oversee the integrity and confidentiality of HR Information Systems, personnel files, and timekeeping records accurately and confidentially. Generate and analyze HR reports as needed.
Ensure firm-wide compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Lead and continuously improve onboarding and offboarding processes to support compliance, engagement, and operational effectiveness.
Support and advise on full-cycle recruiting efforts: candidate evaluations, interviewing and hiring selection, and offer coordination.
Operational Functions May Include:
Provide operational and strategic support across multiple offices and administrative teams.
Maintain relationships with operations vendors, equipment.
Assess existing practices and design/update workflows that improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency across the firm.
Specific Measures of Success
Balances critical, time-sensitive, and confidential requests with precision and discretion with other assigned responsibilities.
Quickly responds to requests and resolves open tasks.
Proactively eliminates obstacles before they become issues.
Demonstrates efficiency in working with multiple stakeholders across multiple sites by leveraging firm resources and tools.
High degree of pride in the accuracy and quality of your work product.
Zero preventable errors in payroll processing and accounting tasks.
Job Requirements At least 3 years of experience in core Human Resources functions and business operations.
Proficiency with HRIS platforms, talent management tools, and payroll systems – experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
An intermediate understanding of payroll accounting rules and employment laws is necessary.
Education A college degree in HR or a business-related field is preferred.

Requirements/Additional Information
Starting base salary range: $68,000-$75,000, with the opportunity to earn a discretionary annual bonus of up to 10% of earnings.
This individual will report to the Director of People Operations.
The first 90 days will include an extensive onboarding/training program.
After the first 90 days, and with manager approval, the candidate will be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement— allowing a specified number of remote workdays per month in accordance with the firm’s hybrid work policy.
The Candidate may need to travel between our various offices on occasion; all locations are within driving or train distance of Towson, MD.
