ID3 , a custom fabrication and scenic production company, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding metal components for
custom builds, scenic elements, exhibits, and specialty structures . You will collaborate closely with carpentry, scenic, paint, and project management teams to bring unique designs from concept to reality. This role requires precision, adaptability, and a strong commitment to quality and safety in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Completion of a welding apprenticeship program or equivalent training Valid Flux‑Cored Arc Welding (FCAW / Flux Core) certification Proven experience in welding and metal fabrication, preferably in a custom or project‑based environment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, and blueprints Strong knowledge of welding techniques, tools, and safety practices
Preferred Qualifications Additional welding certifications (MIG, TIG, Stick) Experience in custom fabrication, scenic fabrication, exhibits, or themed environments Ability to work with mixed materials and one‑off builds Experience operating CNC machines, plasma tables, or metal fabrication equipment Forklift or aerial lift certification
Responsibilities Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and specifications for custom fabrication projects Cut, shape, fit, and weld metal components using appropriate welding processes, including Flux Core welding Fabricate structural and decorative elements to meet design, structural, and aesthetic requirements Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with specifications Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in safe, clean, and proper working condition Collaborate with carpentry, scenic, paint, and project management teams to meet project timelines Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and quality standards
Work Environment Work is performed in ID3’s fabrication shop and occasionally on‑site for installs Environment may include exposure to loud noise, welding fumes, sparks, heat, dust, and heavy equipment Projects are often custom and deadline‑driven, requiring flexibility and adaptability Work schedule may include extended hours, overtime, or weekends based on project demands
Physical Demands Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various positions, including bending, kneeling, crouching, and overhead welding Manual dexterity and strong hand‑eye coordination required
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required PPE includes, but is not limited to:
Welding helmet with appropriate lens
Welding gloves and protective sleeves
Flame‑resistant (FR) clothing
Safety glasses with side shields
Steel‑toe or composite‑toe safety boots
Hearing and respiratory protection as required
Employees are required to properly wear and maintain all assigned PPE while performing job duties
Skills Successful candidates will demonstrate strong
Flux Core welding
