Position Details Job Classification Title: Judicial Services Specialist (S)

Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
Description of Work The Judicial Services Specialist (JSS) determines the assignment process and makes adjustments to meet court demands. The JSS ensures case data is accurately reflected in OPUS and CSAS, processes cases in a timely and accurate manner, reviews and approves staff work within the unit, and performs case reviews to ensure effective services, appropriate follow-up and adherence to Community Supervision policy.
Review community service contacts.
Placement and offender performance.
Tracking and court processing.
Perform case reviews.
Complete performance appraisals on assigned JSCs.
Time approval.
The position also reviews proposed recipient agencies for appropriateness per Community Supervision policy and guidelines. The JSS frequently attends court and interacts with judges, lawyers, district attorneys, clerks of court, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences Salary Range: $35,984.00 – $62,971.00
Salary Grade: NC07
Qualifications
Knowledge of local/regional community resources to address placement of monitored offenders and structured sentencing as it applies to Community Supervision.
Knowledge of sanctions available to target offender needs.
Experience supervising a team, delegating and directing work assignments, and court intake.
Professional presentation skills in a highly visible position within Community Supervision.
Ability to work independently and follow directions from Chief Probation/Parole Officer.
Exceptional time management and organizational skills to handle stressful situations.
Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field and one year of experience as a Judicial Services Coordinator or other directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
OR Associate’s degree in criminal justice, human services, psychology, or related field and three years of experience as a Judicial Services Coordinator or other directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
OR High school or GED diploma and five years of experience as a Judicial Services Coordinator or other directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
