Shift: Must be able to work TWO, 12-hour Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, every Saturday & Sunday. WEEKEND PREMIUM Position (WEPP). Work 24 hours/week and get paid for 32 hours/week.
Physical Requirements: Able to lift, carry, push, pull 50-100 pounds daily; stand, walk, sit long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, injury risk.
Required Education: ADN
Required Related Experience: No experience required.
Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky RN license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing and AHA Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Job Summary: Registered nurses in Chandler 8 Main (Acute/Progressive) at UK Chandler Hospital provide care for adult medicine services patients who are moderately stable, with fluctuating acuity, complex needs and require comprehensive care. Patient care includes frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular and neurological conditions.
Responsibilities
Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care.
Deliver direct patient care.
Ensure patient satisfaction.
Train and delegate duties for nursing care technicians (nursing assistants).
Adhere to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and enhance patient outcomes.
Utilize the nursing process and comprehensive patient-centered plan of care to ensure satisfaction.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, Swanson’s Caring model.
Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
Basic computer navigation and internet skills.
Professional communication with patients, families, co-workers, physicians.
Strong organizational, prioritization and delegation skills; motivated, proactive, confident in patient advocacy.
Teamwork and independent work capability.
Qualifications
ADN education.
No experience required.
Active RN license + AHA BLS certification.
Preferred: BSN + at least 1 year RN experience.
