What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)

Improve the accuracy of outpatient clinical documentation coding and charging

Educate clinical departments and coding staff on documentation and charging policies

Assist clinical areas in effectively documenting services provided

Ensure compliance with policies and procedures related to coding and charging

Review health records to determine applicable charges and codes for hospital billing

What is Required (Qualifications)

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

CPC (Certified Professional Coder), COC (Certified Outpatient Coder), RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification

Minimum of 5 years of recent relevant experience

In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, billing terminology, and hospital outpatient coding processes

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

Experience with electronic medical records systems (EPIC preferred)

Strong project management skills

Familiarity with government and commercial payer requirements

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and department heads

Knowledge of Medicare APC and OPPS reimbursement structures
