What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Improve the accuracy of outpatient clinical documentation coding and charging through education and support
Assist clinical areas in effective documentation of services and compliance with policies
Review health records to determine applicable charges/codes for hospital/facility billing
Utilize coding/billing resources to ensure accurate documentation and compliance
Maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive information
What is Required (Qualifications)
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Certification as a CPC-Certified Professional Coder, COC-Certified Outpatient Coder, RHIA, or RHIT
Minimum of 5 years of recent relevant experience
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding processes, and billing functions
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
Strong project management skills and effective verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with government and commercial payer requirements
Knowledge of Medicare APC and OPPS reimbursement structures
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks
