We are currently seeking a part‑time Patient Service Representative for our South County Internal Medicine office located at 5034 Griffin Road.
Summary: The Patient Service Representative’s main responsibility will be performing check‑in and check‑out functions at the front desk, accepting charges and answering patient billing questions, collecting copays and balances due. The chosen candidate must project a positive and professional image in all interactions with patients and coworkers.
We are seeking candidates who have the ability to multi‑task and stay organized, and who possess a strong desire to deliver quality customer service.
Schedule: three days a week, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Monday is a required day, the other two days are negotiable.
This is NOT a benefit eligible position.
Preferred Qualifications: Formal training indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; one or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of different types of health insurance plans (HMO, PPO, etc.); ability to recognize priority or emergency phone calls; ability to communicate effectively with patients, both on the telephone and in person, including patients who are angry or upset; ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment; ability to sit at a desk and answer the telephone/perform data entry up to 8 hours a day; proficiency with a Windows‑based PC environment.
