About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to serve as its top executive, responsible for the long-term strategic direction, external partnerships, fiscal and operational sustainability, and the leadership of a mission-driven, high-performing executive team. The CEO will ensure that the organization is positioned as a vital, future-ready public institution, with a focus on inclusive and responsive services. This role involves leading and mentoring senior executives, aligning priorities with the Board of Trustees and community expectations, and optimizing resources to reach all residents. The successful candidate will also be the face of the organization, engaging in governance, and fostering strong relationships with the community and external stakeholders.

Candidates for the CEO position at the company should be visionary leaders with a passion for libraries and the diverse populations they serve. A minimum of ten years' of successful experience in a senior management role, including operations, finance, and human resources, is required. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to racial equity work, a track record of successful fundraising, and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. Strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to influence and negotiate, and a talent for coaching and developing team members are essential. The CEO will be expected to be an innovative collaborator, a creative problem-solver, and a decisive leader with a systems-oriented approach. An undergraduate degree is required, with a Master's degree in a related field preferred.
