About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its mission-driven organization. The CFO will be a strategic leader, providing oversight and direction for the core functions of finance and accounting, legal, and risk management. This role is pivotal in supporting the organization's vision of a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world where people and trees thrive together. The successful candidate will work closely with the President and CEO, as well as the Board of Trustees, to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization, which has a strong financial foundation with diverse revenue streams and a significant endowment.
Key responsibilities for the CFO include financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, as well as managing the financial aspects of the organization's comprehensive site plan and a major fundraising campaign. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in nonprofit financial management, a deep understanding of the sector, and a commitment to the values of the organization. The CFO will also be involved in strategic decision-making, and must be adept at fostering a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning. A background in mission-driven work, particularly in the areas of science, conservation, or education, is highly valued. The role requires a leader who can effectively partner with various stakeholders and is dedicated to the responsible stewardship of resources to support the organization's goals.
