Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A temporary Special Education Teacher position is available at an elementary school in Henderson, NC, supporting students with autism in grades K-2. This contract role runs from January 5, 2026, through June 11, 2026, during the 25/26 school year. The position is part-time, Monday through Friday, with 4-6 hours of work each day. Responsibilities include managing a caseload of 7-8 students with moderate to severe autism, consisting mostly of first and second graders. The classroom team includes one teacher and two teaching assistants. Candidates should be confident and experienced in working with a mix of verbal and nonverbal students who are primarily potty trained. The role requires an on-site presence every day. Qualifications: Early Childhood license with Birth to Kindergarten endorsement required Experience working with children on the autism spectrum, particularly moderate to severe cases Ability to work effectively with a small classroom team Strong communication and classroom management skills Location: Elementary school setting in Henderson, North Carolina Benefits: Sign-on bonus of $1,500, paid in two installments: half after 60 days and the remainder at assignment completion This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a specialized classroom environment.
