Located in Augusta, ME, this contract opportunity involves serving as a Special Education Teacher within a self-contained K-8 program designed to support students' social, emotional, and academic development. This role emphasizes fostering coping strategies and skills that enable students to thrive in regular education settings. The position is ideal for educators with State of Maine Certification (282) who are ready to start as soon as possible for the current school year (CSY) and available through the end of the school year (EOSY). Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction tailored to K-8 students within a self-contained classroom. Address students social, emotional, and academic needs to promote success in mainstream education. Supervise education technicians, providing guidance and support. Collaborate closely with administration, service providers, and families to create and implement effective educational strategies. Monitor student progress and adjust teaching approaches accordingly to meet individual goals. Qualifications and Experience: State of Maine Certification (282) in Special Education is required. Experience working in a K-8 educational setting, preferably with self-contained classrooms. Strong understanding of interventions that address social, emotional, and academic challenges. Ability to supervise support staff and foster teamwork among multidisciplinary teams. Effective communication skills to engage families and professionals collaboratively.
