Case Records Technician

Salary: $3,411.00 – $4,945.00 per month with possible alternate ranges.

Job Description and Duties Under close supervision, incumbents receive training in the technical work of processing, maintaining, and controlling inmate, youthful offender, and parolee records; preparing routine documents and records information related to an inmate or youthful offender’s classification, transfer, release, and return to a facility, and other actions affecting legal status; assembling case record files; entering inmate, youthful offender, and parolee data in an automated system; filing various documents in inmate, youthful offender, and parolee files; and answering inquiries from state, city, county, federal, and private sector law enforcement agencies and departmental employees regarding inmate, youthful offender, and parolee records.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position. Applicants must specify on their application that they are applying for a Training and Development assignment.
This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies in this classification for the life of the recruitment.
Minimum Requirements
One year of experience performing clerical duties in processing and maintaining office records. Experience in California state service applied toward this requirement must be at a level equivalent to an Assistant Clerk.
Two years of experience performing general clerical duties and either completion of the 12th grade or completion of a business school curriculum. Experience applicable to one of the following patterns may be combined on a proportional basis with experience applicable to other patterns to meet total experience requirements.
