Cox Automotive – USA Fleet Services – A Cox Automotive Company keeps your fleet moving. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Fleet Services is one of the largest fleet maintenance companies in the country, offering on-site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. We are currently hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician. The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. This role is considered lead on jobsites by customers and technicians and functions as a consultant on the customer’s behalf. This position may be remote but requires residence in the specified city, state, or region. Travel is required (100% of the time). Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, etc.). Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment as listed above, including engines (gas and diesel) and related systems. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges). Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and company-issued service truck equipment, and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections. Work with and listen to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent assigned tasks with effective prioritization of work and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks. Document work per company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application on an iOS device. Complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion. Work independently and manage daily schedule; maintain a high level of productivity within standard repair times where applicable. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs. Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve PO numbers, and discuss RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre-/post-trip inspections. Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience. Candidates with a different combination of degrees/certifications or 5 years of related experience may also qualify. At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. OEM training and certifications are preferred. Completion of all required company training. DOT/FMCSA regulations compliance; ability to pass pre-employment DOT background screening and DOT physical; a valid DOT medical card may be substituted in certain cases. Candidate must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority. Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain Driver Qualification File. Certifications
