We are supporting a
large, regulated utility organization
in the Carolinas that is seeking an experienced
Project Manager II
to support
Transmission & Interconnections
projects within their Power Grid Operations group.
This role is ideal for a project manager with a strong background in
large-scale energy, utility, or infrastructure construction projects , particularly within transmission or power delivery environments.
Position Overview
As a Project Manager II, you will have
single-point accountability
for a portfolio of low to moderate risk transmission projects, overseeing planning and execution from early development through construction, commissioning, and turnover to operations. You will work cross‑functionally with engineering, construction, project controls, supply chain, environmental, safety, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage transmission and interconnection projects across scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and risk
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders including engineering, construction, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory partners
Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies
Facilitate project meetings, status updates, and executive reporting
Support procurement strategies, contractor oversight, commissioning, and closeout activities
Ensure compliance with internal project management standards and utility best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (Electrical Engineering preferred; Engineering, Construction Management, or related field acceptable)
8+ years of experience managing large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
Experience within
energy, utilities, transmission, telecom, or power grid projects
strongly preferred
Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
Comfortable working in matrixed, cross‑functional environments
Proficient with project management tools and standard business software
Seniority level Mid‑Senior level
