About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Head for Advancement to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will be a strategic and relational leader, responsible for unifying the school's external-facing functions, including philanthropy, communications, marketing, and enrollment, under a comprehensive, data-informed strategic plan. This role is pivotal in advancing the school's mission and impact, with a focus on fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and trust. The Associate Head will lead all fundraising initiatives, manage a portfolio of major donors, and ensure the integrity and strategic use of data in advancement strategies. They will also partner with the President and other senior leaders to align fundraising goals with financial planning and will be expected to have a proven track record in building comprehensive fundraising programs and leading successful capital campaigns.
Candidates for the Associate Head position should have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and at least 10 years' of advancement experience, with a strong background in philanthropy and a deep commitment to the values of the institution. The role requires outstanding relationship-building skills, the ability to work with a diverse community, and a sophisticated understanding of independent school financial models. The ideal candidate will be a visionary, collaborative leader with high emotional intelligence, and a passion for education, community engagement, and student success. They should be adept at tailoring communication to different audiences, and be prepared to travel extensively for donor cultivation and stewardship. Experience in an independent school or private college environment is preferable, as is a background in working with advancement database systems and analytics.
