Wellness and Recreation is seeking passionate students to assist in promoting health and well‑being through interactive educational sessions, programs, events and wellness coaching for the NC State campus community.
Wellness and Recreation commits to fostering a learning environment for our student employees that cultivates the skills of ethical reasoning, critical thinking, teamwork, initiative and professionalism. Programs and facilities are student‑run with professional coaching. The goal is to help develop students’ transferable skills and create a supportive and challenging environment for them to succeed in and out of the classroom.
Responsibilities
Facilitate individual health coaching sessions
Reach out to student groups on campus to market program and offer educational sessions
Conduct basic health and wellness assessments, and properly communicate results to participants
Create wellness programming opportunities for unique student groups and populations
Collaborate with marketing staff to create print educational materials on topics relevant to college student well‑being (e.g., handouts, brochures, posters)
Promote fitness and wellness programs during on‑campus special events
Develop and deliver educational presentations related to health and wellness
Attend non‑revenue generating sporting events for free
Other Responsibilities
Guideline Enforcement: Understand and enforce Wellness and Recreation and area‑specific guidelines.
Risk Management: Knowledge and implementation of emergency action plan.
Training and Meetings: Attend required training and monthly staff meetings.
Community: Develop professional relationships with co‑workers, participants and guests.
Support: Perform other related duties to support the overall functioning of the department.

Initiative: Complete required work, pursue opportunities to expand knowledge, work to better the department.
Communication: Display effective and proactive interpersonal communication with users and coworkers.
Customer Service: Prioritize our users, ensuring a positive and supportive experience for all participants.

Teamwork: Collaborate and use knowledge and experiences to contribute to the success of the team.
Values Reasoning: Use our four values of care, positivity, flexibility and support when making decisions.

Requiredenses or Certifications
Student: Full‑time NC State student status, demonstrated by enrollment in at least 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credit hours.
Ensuring Safety: Holds current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications, or is prepared to obtain them within 30 days.
Required Certifications: ACE Health Coach certification
Qualification Summary Work Schedule: Maximum 20 hours per week as scheduled.
