Brief Description Coryell Health's Med/Surg Department

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care by assessing and monitoring vital signs and symptoms.
Assess the acuity of the care required by the patients.
Develop and implement staffing plan for the shift based on patient acuity, patient census and available staff.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and necessary lifestyle changes.
Document all patient care activities, responses to treatments, and any changes in condition accurately and timely.
Requirements
Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in the state of Texas or possesses temporary permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas while awaiting receipt of license.
Required to meet qualification criteria during hospital and nursing unit orientation periods.
Prefer three plus years of professional nursing experience in clinical setting.
Require current CPR (ACLS certification within one year) and must maintain without lapse.
Must have PALS within one year of employment and must maintain without lapse.
Must have basic EKG and/or arrhythmia course within six months of employment.
Must have basic computer knowledge.
May satisfy requirements with documentation from previous experience.
Supervisory experience preferred.
