This position involves caring for neonates and providing couplet care, while also managing labor patients and circulating during cesarean sections. The ideal candidate should have a passion for neonatal care and experience in a Labor and Delivery setting. Key Responsibilities: - Provide high-quality nursing care to neonates and their families. - Assist pediatricians with procedures including lumbar punctures, circumcisions, UVC insertions, intubation, and stabilization.- Manage laboring patients and perform triage as necessary.- Offer breastfeeding support and lactation assistance to mothers.- Provide care for neonates requiring IV antibiotics, IV glucose support, and respiratory support.- Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations.- Utilize the Epic documentation system for recording patient care efficiently. Patient Diagnoses: - Transitioning to Neonate (TTN)- Hypoglycemia- Rule Out Sepsis- Respiratory Distress- Term Newborns Unit Details: - The unit mostly comprises couplet care, where newborns room in with their parents.- The Special Care Nursery operates within an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) model. Qualifications: - A valid NM or Compact RN license is required at the time of submission.- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are mandatory.- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred.- A minimum of 1-year experience in a similar nursing role with some charge experience preferred.- Experience with couplet care and triage in labor and delivery settings is essential.- Familiarity with Epic charting system is required. Work Environment: - Daily patient ratios of 3:1 for nurses, both during the day and night shifts.- Opportunity to float to like units as necessary based on facility needs.
