Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in healthcare finance, strategic planning, and organizational transformation. The ideal candidate will bring executive-level healthcare experience, specifically past service as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at both Medical Center and Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) levels. This role is essential for advising on vision-setting, policy development, and modernization initiatives within a large and complex healthcare system, with a strong preference for experience in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and/or the Department of Defense (DoD) Healthcare System. Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Provide high-level advisory input on the development of strategic and tactical plans for healthcare systems. Contribute to shaping organizational vision, mission alignment, and long-term financial goals. Policy and Communication: Advise on the dissemination of financial and operational policy across large, multifaceted organizations. Translate complex policy changes into actionable guidance for stakeholders at all levels. Financial Oversight: Oversee or support the preparation of annual financial statements, including coordination across departments. Lead initiatives in managerial cost accounting and actuarial modeling to support informed decision-making and resource allocation. Acquisition and Logistics: Provide expert insight into acquisition strategies, supply chain optimization, and logistics planning within the VHA's framework. System Implementation: Lead or support the implementation and optimization of modern financial systems such as: Centralized Accounting for Local Management (CALM) Financial Management System (FMS) Research and Development Support: Facilitate financial planning and compliance for R&D programs within the healthcare system. Partner with academic and federal institutions to support innovation and research initiatives. Minimum Qualifications
Former Chief Financial Officer experience at both Medical Center and VISN levels. Demonstrated leadership in setting direction for large, complex healthcare organizations. In-depth knowledge of VHA's VISN structure and operations. Extensive experience in healthcare finance, acquisition, and logistics. Familiarity with federal financial and accounting standards. Proven track record of leading large-scale initiatives and communicating complex strategies to diverse stakeholders. Desired Qualifications
Strategic plan development and tactical execution within a federal healthcare environment. Strong communication skills, with experience disseminating policy to large audiences. Oversight of complex financial reporting and analysis, including actuarial projections. Hands-on experience with CALM or FMS financial systems.
