A well-regarded law firm based in Pasadena, CA, is seeking a seasoned civil defense litigator to assume a pivotal role in its high-exposure litigation practice. This position is ideal for an experienced attorney who thrives in the courtroom, enjoys guiding litigation strategy, and is ready to mentor junior attorneys while handling complex matters from inception through trial. The ideal candidate brings proven courtroom presence, strong leadership instincts, and a drive to deliver outstanding results.
Duties:
Manage a diverse civil litigation docket from intake to resolution or trial Act as lead or second-chair attorney in trials, mediations, and arbitrations Take and defend depositions, handle discovery strategy, and prepare key motions Develop a litigation strategy tailored to client goals and case dynamics Build and maintain client relationships with regular updates and strategic guidance Supervise and collaborate with junior attorneys and support staff on casework Provide feedback and mentorship to associates to promote litigation excellence Assess case strengths, recommend budget forecasts, and ensure compliance with internal and external standards Requirements:
Minimum 7 years of litigation experience with a focus on civil defense Direct trial experience in complex litigation, preferably in a leadership role Strong interpersonal and client-handling skills Proficiency in managing litigation independently while coordinating with a team Adept at legal strategy, case valuation, and high-level advocacy Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution Certifications:
Must hold an active license to practice law in California Skills:
Litigation strategy and trial execution Strong written and oral advocacy Legal research and motion drafting Team leadership and associate development Client relations and negotiation Familiarity with modern legal tech tools and litigation platforms (e.g., AI-powered research and drafting support) Job Location:
