Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated FPGA/ASIC Design Engineer to contribute to the design, verification, integration, and testing of FPGA/ASIC-based solutions for engine control systems. This role involves working on next-generation embedded hardware designs that meet stringent aerospace and certification standards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of world-class hardware and software engineers to define, architect, develop, and integrate digital hardware solutions into advanced products.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support all phases of the FPGA/ASIC development cycle, including requirement analysis, architecture design, coding, simulation, synthesis, integration, and documentation. Develop custom digital devices (ASIC or FPGA) for electronic engine control systems. Author detailed design documentation, verification plans, and reports in accordance with DO-254 standards. Develop RTL using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog. Create test benches and perform simulation/debug using industry-standard tools. Achieve timing closure and optimize FPGA performance (timing constraints, synthesis, place & route, and power utilization). Contribute to integration and testing of FPGA hardware in lab environments using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, ILA, and JTAG. Collaborate across teams for seamless system integration and hardware validation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience, OR Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering, OR JD/PhD in a related technical field. Experience in RTL design, simulation, and debugging. Willingness to travel up to 25% between Indianapolis and West Lafayette, IN.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience validating FPGA hardware in a lab environment. Proficiency with scripting languages such as TCL, Python, or Shell scripts. Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux development environments. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN). Familiarity with Actel and Xilinx FPGA toolchains and implementation flows.
