Description Position Details:Title: Electrical Field Service Testing TechnicianLocation: Houston, TXShift: Day shift; hours may vary based on project needsCompensation: $30 - $45/hour, depending on experienceTravel: Approximately 50%, regional and national travelBenefits: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and holidaysPerks: Company truck, laptop, and cell phone provided Position Description:We are seeking a skilled and driven Electrical Field Service Testing Technician to join our dynamic team of power system professionals. In this role, you will be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium- to high-voltage electrical systems. This includes a strong focus on protective relays, electrical controls, and system diagnostics for a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and utility projects.This position is ideal for detail-oriented, hands-on professionals who value safety and precision in their work. Former U.S. Navy Nuclear Electrician's Mates (EMs), Electronics Technicians (ETs), and U.S. Army Prime Power Specialists with strong electrical backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities:Perform acceptance, maintenance, and commissioning tests on electrical power systems ranging from 480V to 345kVConduct protective relay testing (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)Troubleshoot control circuits, switchgear, transformers, breakers, switches, and MCCsInterpret one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and relay logicUse test equipment such as Doble, OMICRON, Megger, and RTS/AVTS softwareInterface directly with customers to deliver professional service and technical insightGenerate detailed and accurate test reports in compliance with NETA, IEEE, and NFPA 70E standardsMaintain strong safety practices and adhere to all jobsite safety protocolsTravel to job sites across the region and nationally as needed Qualifications:1-3+ years of field service experience in electrical testing or commissioningSolid understanding of circuit breakers, relays, transformers, and control systemsFamiliarity with SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Schweitzer, and Basler protective relay systemsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical documentationProficiency with test equipment and diagnostic softwareValid driver's license and clean driving recordStrong communication and documentation skillsExcellent safety awareness and knowledge of NFPA 70E arc flash practices Preferred Qualifications:Prior U.S. Navy EM or ET, or U.S. Army Prime Power SpecialistNETA Level II certification or NICET Level III/IV preferredAssociate or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology or related fieldOSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety certifications
