The Role: Our expanding IP litigation team seeks a mid-senior attorney specializing in patent litigation. Candidates should have a strong academic background, including a PhD in life sciences, and experience working on large, complex patent litigation cases, particularly representing branded clients. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious AmLaw attorney aiming to gain direct experience working with ex-BigLaw Partners and advancing toward Counsel and higher roles.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate as an integral member of patent litigation teams, working closely with Partners on complex, high-stakes cases.
- Handle patent litigation cases in federal court.
- Possess knowledge of Hatch-Waxman litigation.
- Manage all aspects of patent litigation, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, taking/defending depositions, arguing discovery disputes, and trial preparation.
- Conduct detailed legal research and analysis on patent law issues such as patent validity and infringement.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 5-7 years of patent litigation experience.
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
- MA and preferably a PhD in life sciences.
- Experience with Hatch-Waxman litigation is preferred.
- Experience handling IPRs and PGRs at the PTAB is a plus.
- Admitted and in good standing with any US state bar.
- Experience at an AmLaw 200 firm.
- Clerkship at U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit or district courts is advantageous.
- USPTO registration is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
