Position Overview
Primary Function: The AmeriCorps Program Manager is responsible for managing and supporting our tri-county rural AmeriCorps program. The AmeriCorps Program Manager is part of a highly collaborative Office of Civic Engagement (OCE) and South Cumberland Community Fund (SCCF) team and will be responsible for AmeriCorps host site development and support, grant writing, grant compliance monitoring, reporting, managing extensions, and support of the AmeriCorps Coordinator, as well as general operations to ensure that all programmatic and financial activities comply with the terms and conditions of the program sponsor, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). The AmeriCorps Program Manager will oversee a portfolio of host sites and AmeriCorps members, in addition to overall program responsibilities. This position works with considerable independence and self-direction. Only the general direction and scope of the work to be accomplished are discussed with the supervisor. The staff member is expected to carry out position duties independently and understands what is expected and how to do it. Position Appointment Details: Career Band: 1D Full-Time Position Description Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the AmeriCorps team of service members and host sites throughout the program year. Duties include: reviewing progress on individual assignment descriptions, providing regular support for members and supervisors, and regular in-person/virtual site visits and cohort meetings. Manage the AmeriCorps member recruitment, selection, and placement process with the assistance of the the Coordinator Supervise directly the AmeriCorps members, providing ongoing coaching and support; completing formal performance evaluation; and regularly communicating with designated members and leaders. Collaborate with community partners to identify AmeriCorps placements, train site supervisors, and communicate with key stakeholders. Work with the Coordinator to ensure that onboarding and offboarding paperwork are completed in accordance with grant compliance requirements. Lead AmeriCorps member development programming. Duties include collaborating with the AmeriCorps Coordinator on content and delivery for member orientation, ongoing professional development, corps-building activities, and national days of service. Support program evaluation processes. Duties include developing a comprehensive data collection system for AmeriCorps and host sites, co-authoring sponsor reports with the Program Coordinator, and utilizing data for the program's continuous improvement. Support program communications. Duties include: managing stakeholder contact lists, member listservs, and other related mechanisms; collaborating with the Program Coordinator on content for communications about AmeriCorps activities and impact; assisting in the distribution of approved content via print, electronic, and social media; and collaborating with OCE and SCCF communications teams on effective communications to support the SCP AmeriCorps Project. Perform related program administrative functions. Duties include: handling program and grant finances, including procurements and reimbursements, processing document transactions, and collaborating with the Program Coordinator to ensure the maintenance of basic programmatic files (e.g., host site agreements, member files, etc.). Collaborate with the Office of Civic Engagement on the Office's strategic goals, planning, and implementation. Collaborate with other university departments and community agencies on initiatives important to the OCE and the SCP AmeriCorps Project, including increasing student awareness and involvement.. Collaborate with the South Cumberland Community Fund on shared projects and initiatives for mutual support. Collaborate with Volunteer Commission staff as needed to support the program and meet grant requirements. Participate in conferences, webinars, and professional training sessions relevant to the role and program to further develop the Manager and enhance program operations, recruitment, and retention. Other duties as assigned in support of the organization's mission, and the scope and parameters of the AmeriCorps agency, Volunteer Tennessee guidance, and applicable service year grant.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related academic program; Master's degree preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of related experience preferred.
Job-Related Skills:
Knowledge of AmeriCorps and national service programs, and direct experience with AmeriCorps or a related initiative are strongly preferred. Experience with rural communities and community-based nonprofits preferred. Knowledge of and experience with software are necessary to implement related duties. Strong initiative with demonstrated ability to independently implement a program, and to identify and resolve day-to-day program problems. Experience writing and managing grants and financial budgets is strongly preferred. Ability to plan and implement workshops, meetings, and events which meet specific programmatic goals and serve designated target audiences.
