Mid-Senior Level Electrical Engineer | MEP consulting firm | NJ | 115K-125K Base
Your new company This New Jersey-based MEP Consulting Firm focuses on high-quality engineering solutions in the commercial, retail, healthcare, educational hospitality and renewable energy sectors and is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. Your new role Lead the electrical design for a variety of projects, including power distribution, lighting, emergency backup systems, fire alarm Perform detailed electrical calculations (e.g., load analysis, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination) to ensure system efficiency and compliance with codes. Prepare and review electrical design drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Ensure electrical designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure electrical systems integrate seamlessly into the overall project design. Oversee the selection of electrical equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, panels, and switchgear, ensuring compatibility with system requirements. Conduct site visits for inspections and ensure compliance with design specifications during construction and commissioning phases. Support the preparation of project budgets and schedules, ensuring electrical systems are delivered on time and within budget. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes to enhance design quality and efficiency. What you'll need to succeed Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of experience in electrical system design, with a focus on commercial, institutional, and/or industrial projects. Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems. Extensive experience with electrical codes and standards Proven ability to manage and lead electrical design efforts on large-scale projects. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams. What you'll get in return
