Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified, highly motivated Senior Training Specialist - Distributed Learning (DL) to support a dynamic Department of Defense (DoD) training mission. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and managing distributed learning (DL) content, delivery systems, and instructional strategies that support warfighter readiness across geographically dispersed units.

The Senior Training Specialist will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructional system designers (ISDs), and training program managers to create engaging, standards-compliant online training and blended learning solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in adult education, instructional technologies, and DoD training frameworks, with a proven ability to execute high-quality training in secure environments.

Responsibilities

Skills / Experience Required Active TS/SCI clearance Minimum 8-10 years of experience in instructional design, adult education, or training development, with 5+ years focused on distributed learning Extensive knowledge of instructional design models, adult learning principles, and distance learning strategies Experience working with DoD training programs, policies, and systems (e.g., JKO, ATIS, or similar) Skilled with authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and/or Lectora Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and SCORM/AICC compliance Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences Lead the design, development, and implementation of DL curriculum using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) Develop and maintain e-learning modules, virtual instructor-led training (vILT), and blended learning content in compliance with DoD and SCORM standards Collaborate with SMEs to identify learning objectives, define performance metrics, and ensure content relevance to mission goals Oversee learning management system (LMS) integration and ensure compatibility with DoD systems (e.g., DoDLMS, Joint Knowledge Online) Evaluate course effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative methods and provide recommendations for improvements Ensure DL content is accessible, 508-compliant, and secure according to DoD cybersecurity policies Support training data collection, learning analytics, and after-action reports (AARs) Advise leadership on distributed learning trends, innovations, and technologies relevant to DoD training strategies Education / Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Training & Development, or a related field, required Master's degree in Education, Learning Technologies, or related discipline, preferred Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLC) DoD-approved Instructional Systems Design (ISD) certification Agile or PMP certification (if managing training development projects) Benefits

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
