Join our expanding team of remote special education professionals serving New Mexico's virtual education community. We're looking for an experienced Special Education Teacher passionate about delivering high-quality individualized instruction to students with exceptional learning needs. Position Overview This remote role offers 35 hours per week supporting a diverse caseload of approximately 19 students across all educational levels from kindergarten through high school programs. You'll work within a supportive virtual environment while maintaining independence in service delivery, instructional planning, and case management. Core Educational Functions Provide direct specialized instruction aligned with individual student IEP goals and measurable objectives Implement evidence-based curriculum modifications and assistive technology supports effectively Conduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring using data-driven instructional decision making Collaborate with related service providers and general education teachers through virtual platforms Facilitate smooth student transitions between educational settings and comprehensive post-secondary planning Engage families in the educational process through virtual conferences and meaningful training opportunities Maintain compliance with special education laws, procedural safeguards, and detailed documentation requirements Service Delivery Focus Your diverse caseload will include students requiring intensive academic support in literacy and numeracy skills, students with autism needing structured communication and social skills instruction, and students with multiple disabilities requiring comprehensive functional life skills training. You'll adapt research-based interventions for effective virtual delivery while maintaining therapeutic relationships essential for student growth and development. Essential Qualifications Master's degree in Special Education from accredited teacher preparation program Valid New Mexico Special Education teaching license in good standing Minimum two years of experience providing special education services in educational settings Expertise in individualized instruction, behavioral supports, and assistive technology integration Proficiency with educational technology tools and virtual learning management systems Strong understanding of disability law, IEP development, and regulatory compliance procedures Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detailed record-keeping requirements Technology Requirements Successful candidates will demonstrate extensive experience with various online learning platforms, digital assessment instruments, and assistive technology solutions.
