Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all store areas as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent Customer service, greet customers, and respond to questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Register-trained capabilities and help with merchandise as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment. Follow safety practices and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Assist with merchandise processing and replenishment to meet monthly presentation guidelines.
• Support loss prevention and protect confidential information and assets.
• Perform general cleaning tasks and maintain professional appearance and adherence to dress code.
• Execute store best practices to maximize productivity and efficiency in daily tasks.

Essential Functions

• Understand safety as a priority; maintain a safe shopping environment and clear egress to exits.
• Provide friendly, professional service and use company recognition programs when appropriate.
• Respond promptly to Customer Service calls and escalate to Store Leadership as needed.
• Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
• Assist with merchandising, stocking, and restocking to keep store presentable.
• Handle cash, check, charge transactions, and refunds according to policies with accuracy.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Effective communication with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly and respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Ability to use store equipment (PDTs, registers) as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move for up to 100% of shift; regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop.
• Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds; stockroom associates may lift more than 20 pounds.
