General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be assigned additional tasks as needed to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep exits clear; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional; recognize fellow Associates via company recognition programs.
- Assist customers: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact and a smile; thank customers at checkout.
- Provide prompt responses to customers; respond to service calls; address issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping, replenishing restrooms) and maintain clean, organized areas and high-touch surfaces.
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Daily sizing and recovery to ensure neat, clean, and well-merchandised stores.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per guidelines and maintain brand familiarity within departments.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards; follow MOS policies and proper processing of items.
- Follow cash handling and transaction procedures with accuracy and discretion.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, stand/walk for up to 100% of shift, and move around the Store.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies; for Stockroom shifts, ability to push/pull/lift more than 20 pounds.
