General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, maintains a clean work area, ensures proper merchandise presentation, and follows company standards across all work centers. The role may involve performing a range of tasks in all areas of the store as business needs require, and may include additional tasks in specific situations to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Maintain safety as the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers and recognize fellow associates per company programs.
- Assist customers, be register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greet customers with eye contact, smiles, and “hello” throughout the store; say “thank you” at each register transaction.
- Provide prompt and courteous responses to customer needs and service calls; involve Store Leadership as needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times; safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain a neat store environment.
- Adhere to dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
- Execute daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-organized for merchandising standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per guidelines; maintain brand name familiarity within departments to assist customers.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Follow MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies and proper processing of MOS items; notify Store Leadership to review disposals.
- Follow cash handling procedures and maintain accuracy with bankable tenders.
- Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop regularly
- Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies
- Stockroom shifts may require lifting up to 20 pounds
