General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets Customers, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role may require performing a range of functions across store areas as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly attitude; thanks customers at checkout.
  • Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, answers questions, and helps with merchandise.
  • Responds promptly to Customer Service needs and escalates to Store Leadership when required.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, counters, restrooms) to maintain a clean store and well-presented merchandise.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, organized, and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandising per monthly guidelines.
  • Understands Loss Prevention and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information and company assets.
  • Follows MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposal of merchandise as needed.
  • Handles cash, checks, cards, and refunds with accuracy and adherence to procedures.
  • Demonstrates urgency and maximizes productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to lift and push/pull up to 25 pounds (up to 20 pounds for stockroom shifts).
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders as needed.
  • Other qualifications may apply based on assignments.
