General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and performing a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor with clear egress to exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Provide friendly, respectful service; greet customers and fellow associates; acknowledge customers at the register.
- Assist customers with merchandise, answers to questions, and efficient register transactions.
- Respond promptly to customer service needs and involve Store Leadership when necessary.
- Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces) and replenish supplies to maintain store standards.
- Maintain professional appearance and follow dress code.
- Execute daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and efficiently merchandised.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor per guidelines; assist customers with brand/merchandise familiarity.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follow MOS policies and properly process disposals with Store Leadership review.
- Adhere to cash handling policies and maintain accuracy in transactions.
- Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and follow store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time}
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; lift up to 25 pounds (may vary by role).
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
