The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role may require performing a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report any unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet Customers throughout the Store and at each register transaction.
- Assist Customers as needed; provide information politely and knowledgeably; respond to Customer Service calls promptly.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors) and replenish restroom supplies to maintain cleanliness of the store areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company’s dress code.
- Restock and organize merchandise to ensure neatness and adherence to presentation standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly guidelines.
- Understand Loss Prevention practices and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follow MOS policies and procedures for merchandise processing and disposals.
- Handle cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy and awareness.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasional lifting more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 pounds.
