General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and performing a range of tasks across all areas of the store as needed to support customer service and store operations.

Essential Functions

• Prioritize safety and maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treat customers and associates with respect; greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance.
• Assist customers with merchandise, operate registers, and respond promptly to service calls or customer issues.
• Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain a neat, well-maintained store.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
• Assist in merchandising and stocking to support monthly presentation guidelines and department familiarity.
• Collaborate with store leadership to review and process MOS (motion-out-of-stock) and other loss prevention policies where applicable.
• Follow cash handling procedures and maintain accuracy in transactions.
• Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and adhere to Store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills

• Ability to communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use store equipment and stand/walk up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, lift up to 25 pounds (and in some roles up to 20 pounds for stockroom shifts).
• Ability to operate janitorial and shelving equipment as required.

Benefits and Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $15.00 - $15.50 per hour, dependent on experience, location and other factors. Benefits include eligible health insurance, 401(k), associate discounts, and additional programs as described by company policy.
