Overview

Retail Associate at Ross Stores, Inc. The position is focused on ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience, greeting customers, maintaining a clean and organized store, and presenting merchandise according to company standards.

Responsibilities

• Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
• Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times.
• Assist customers as needed — register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers in-store and thank them at checkout.
• Provide prompt and efficient responses to customers; respond to service calls and escalate issues to Store Leadership as needed.
• Represent and support the company brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks to maintain store and restrooms; keep areas tidy and well-maintained.
• Maintain a professional appearance and follow the company dress code.
• Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-merchandised to standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per guidelines to support monthly presentation standards.
• Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards where applicable.
• Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
• Follow all MOS policies, cash handling procedures, refunds, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Skills

• Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly and respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; ability to lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
• Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
