General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, ensures proper merchandise presentation, and performs a range of tasks as business needs require across store areas.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers in any way necessary: register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and courtesy throughout the store.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer needs and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items per guidelines, and maintains brand name familiarity to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards as applicable.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrates integrity in all interactions.
  • Follows MOS (Miss-Out-of-Stock) policies and processes disposals with proper approvals.
  • Handles cash, check, charge card and refund transactions with accuracy and security.
  • Demonstrates urgency and maximizes productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 pounds.
