General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include greeting customers, following company standards, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of functions as needed across store areas and may be asked to assist in additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Maintain safety as the top priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor with clear egress to exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
• Assist customers (register-trained), answer questions, greet customers with eye contact and a friendly demeanor; thank customers during checkout.
• Provide prompt, courteous responses to customer service needs; escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
• Represent and support the company brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks and maintain restrooms and high-touch areas to support store standards.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
• Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor according to presentation guidelines and brand familiarity.
• Be aware of Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
• Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
• Follow MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies and assist with disposals as needed.
• Follow policies for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
• Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills

• Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Basic mathematical ability common to retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders; assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
• Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
