General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. Responsibilities include greeting customers, following company standards, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring proper merchandise presentation. The Associate will perform a range of functions as needed across store areas and may be asked to assist in additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Maintain safety as the top priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor with clear egress to exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
- Assist customers (register-trained), answer questions, greet customers with eye contact and a friendly demeanor; thank customers during checkout.
- Provide prompt, courteous responses to customer service needs; escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks and maintain restrooms and high-touch areas to support store standards.
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor according to presentation guidelines and brand familiarity.
- Be aware of Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow MOS (Mark-Out-of-Stock) policies and assist with disposals as needed.
- Follow policies for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
- Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills
- Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Basic mathematical ability common to retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders; assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
