Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive shopping experience by greeting customers, making eye contact, and providing courteous service; follow all company best practices and keep a clean, well-presented store.
- Engage tasks across all areas of the store as needed to meet customer service and operational goals.
- Assist customers with merchandise and questions; be register-trained and handle transactions accurately.
- Respond promptly to customer service needs and escalate to Store Leadership when necessary.
- Represent and support the Ross brand at all times; safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Perform cleaning tasks to maintain store appearance and cleanliness (sweeping, mopping, dusting, restrooms, high-touch areas).
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Assist with merchandise receiving, stocking, and merchandising to company guidelines and monthly presentation standards.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Follow MOS policies (Mark-Out-of-Stock) and proper processing of each piece; notify Store Leadership for disposals as needed.
- Follow policies for cash, check, charge card, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
- Demonstrate urgency to maximize productivity and adhere to Store best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Effective communication with customers, associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment (PDTs, registers, PCs) as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for up to 100% of working time; regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds; use janitorial equipment and rolling racks; some roles may require other qualifications.
- Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
