Overview

Retail Associate at Ross Stores, Inc. The role is to ensure customers have a positive shopping experience by greeting customers, maintaining a clean store, presenting merchandise, and supporting store operations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety as the top priority and practice safe behaviors in all tasks.
• Maintain a safe, clutter-free sales floor with clear egress; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Provide friendly, respectful service to Customers and Associates; greet customers and respond to questions professionally.
• Assist Customers as needed — register-trained, assist with merchandise, and handle inquiries politely and knowledgeably.
• Respond promptly to Customer Service requests and escalate to Store Leadership when required.
• Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas (sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting high-touch areas).
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code.
• Execute daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, organized, and merchandised to standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and follow monthly presentation guidelines; maintain brand familiarity within departments.
• Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
• Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; follow MOS policies and proper disposal procedures when applicable.
• Handle cash, checks, charge transactions, refunds, and related procedures accurately and securely.
• Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use all Store equipment, including registers and PDTs as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move about the store up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment and handling of such supplies.
• Stockroom roles may require pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 pounds.
