General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, and follows company standards for cleanliness, merchandise presentation, and customer service. The Associate may perform a range of tasks across store areas as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understand that safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain situational awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe, clutter-free environment and access to exits; report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and courteous language; assist with merchandise and questions in a helpful, knowledgeable manner; respond promptly to Customer Service calls.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times; maintain a professional appearance per company dress code.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors) and restock/restroom upkeep as needed to maintain store standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines; maintain product knowledge within departments to assist Customers.
  • Follow Loss Prevention awareness programs and merchandise protection standards; follow MOS policies and proper disposal processes with Store Leadership approval when applicable.
  • Handle cash, checks, cards, refunds, and voids with accuracy; demonstrate urgency and efficiency in workflow by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
