Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a float pool position covering multiple critical care units with night shifts and Epic EMR experience required.
Responsibilities Work in the float pool across all ICU, PCU/CCU, and ED holding units within a hospital setting Expected to care for a diverse critical care patient population including neuro, trauma, medical, surgical, and cardiovascular cases ICU nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2; PCU/ACC/CCU ratio is 1:4; ER holding uses ratio based on level of care Float coverage may include neuro/trauma/cardiac ICUs, PCU/ACC, ED holding, med-surg, and surge areas Potential to float to a nearby partner hospital located 2.5 miles away, with advance notice provided 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required Epic charting system experience is required Responsibilities include hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and meticulous medication management and documentation Support available from charge nurses, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, intensivists (24/7), and on-call cardiologists Orientation consists of one day of general hospital orientation and one day of unit orientation on ICU and similar units Scrubs may be any professional color First-time travelers with strong ICU and float pool experience will be considered Time off exceeding 5 days requires manager approval Free parking is available within designated areas Breaks are required and must be taken during shifts
Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required (can submit with pending license and proof of application) Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and BiPAP management, invasive line management, ostomy and drain care, trach and chest tube management, lumbar drains, and IV medication titration Must complete and pass a telemetry competency exam prior to start Epic EMR experience is required Experience in float pool strongly preferred
