Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Remote) GEICO is seeking a Staff Engineer, Finance Data Specialist to support the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams. The role requires a strong functional and technical Finance Systems background to drive capture, transformation, and utilization of Finance data to meet business goals. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Finance Data & Analytics and supports FP&A processing and analytics, as well as broader Finance data needs. The Finance Data Specialist will work with multiple Finance and Technology leaders to provide a centralized, reconciled source of financial data for reporting and analytics. The role also supports technology solutions for FP&A Planning/Budgeting, financial reporting, and the ongoing development of the Finance Data Warehouse to enable a thin GL.

Base pay range : $115,000.00/yr - $260,000.00/yr

Annual compensation will be based on skills and experience and discussed with the recruiter.

Position Responsibilities

Leverage functional and technical systems expertise to drive solutions that meet Finance department and GEICO needs

Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle

Participate in design sessions to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations

Collaborate with FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering, and Finance Technology leads to align on goals

Develop a vision and technology roadmap to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse

Understand finance data lake/mart concepts and data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT)

Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions

Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent)

Support the development of Revenue and Expense analytics solutions

Influence customers and stakeholders and manage divergent expectations

Contribute to governance and controls for SOX and audit reviews

Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications

Share best practices and improve processes across teams

Qualifications

15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft)

3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred)

3+ years of experience with a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and related financial reporting tools

Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling

Experience with data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.)

Strong SQL skills and ability to write, debug, and optimize queries and ETL jobs

Experience with financial systems vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP)

Finance domain knowledge to translate process needs into system solutions

Understanding of FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting processes

Experience implementing or supporting Revenue or Expense analytics via Power BI, Tableau, etc.

Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations to partner with Finance

Strong communication skills with ability to work with users across Technology and Finance

Project management knowledge and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Understanding of software development life cycle

Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary $115,000.00 - $260,000.00
