This recruitment will be used to fill both full-time and part-time positions. Under general supervision, operates transit vehicles (diesel and electric motor coaches, cable cars, streetcars, and light rail). Transports passengers along routes, makes designated stops, accepts fares, issues transfers, provides general information, and performs related duties. Examples of Duties include: Conduct pre-operational inspections to ensure vehicle functioning and safety. Inspect passenger compartments for hazards and ensure cameras are clear. Navigate traffic safely and in compliance with laws and regulations. Operate disability access lifts and secure wheelchairs as needed. Collect fares and check transfers/passes; assist with electronic passes. Use intercom to communicate with passengers and announce stops. Answer questions about routes, directions, fares, and transfers. Perform post-operational inspections for damages or graffiti. Report emergencies and service-impact situations to Central Control. Complete incident reports and other related documentation. Perform related duties as assigned. Nature of Work: Employees may work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends; outdoor work in all weather; standing or sitting for prolonged periods; physical duties including moving equipment. All employees must comply with FTA and SFMTA mandates. Work hours/days may change. Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years old by October 21, 2025. High School Diploma, GED, or California High School Proficiency Certificate. One year of verifiable public contact or customer service experience. Valid Class C Driver License; licensed driver for at least three continuous years from October 21, 2022 through October 21, 2025. Possession of or ability to obtain a Class B Driver License with Passenger Endorsement and no prohibitions on operating a public transit vehicle. Good driving record within the period specified, with criteria including limited moving violations and restrictions as outlined in the notice. No drug-related or sex-offense convictions within specified windows; ability to obtain a School Pupil Activity Bus certificate. Ability to obtain SPAB certificate issued by DMV. Trainees are paid $30.8875 per hour during training. Attendance is required; absences may affect placement on the eligible list. Additional Information
