VA New England leads the VHA's Primary Care initiative with the PACT model and offers flexible care options, smaller panel sizes, and a range of support services including virtual care. Duties
Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic intervention, including health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting. Work collaboratively with other health care professionals to accomplish patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting the PACT model of care and ICARE values. Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish a diagnosis and respond to emergency health problems as appropriate. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, recommend treatment and/or referral. Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services. Initiate, evaluate, and change orders for medications. Follow Performance Measure guidelines, including clinical reminders, access and timeliness standards, prescription order entry, National VA formulary requirements, and customer service standards. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to clinic demands and adhere to professional obligations. Maintain ethical standards and sustain a harmonious, customer service oriented work environment. Assist with arranging continuity of care across the VHA system as needed. Provide leadership on site to ensure care is completed in required timeframes. Participate in Quality Improvement activities and attend medical center committees as assigned. Benefits and Incentives
Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: Authorized for certain positions; details discussed during selection. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Eligible for loan repayment; program details and eligibility determined by VHA. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (annual leave, sick leave, holidays, CME absence). Retirement: Traditional federal pension and federal 401K with VA contributions. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care. Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage. Selective Service Registration for males born after 12/31/1959. Proficient in written and spoken English; subject to background/security investigation. Online onboarding required; acceptable ID documents per I-9; REAL ID compliance after May 7, 2025. Must pass pre-employment physical examination and participate in seasonal influenza vaccination program. Probationary period may be required.
