This position supports excise tax compliance and advisory projects for clients in industries including Oil & Gas, Transportation, Manufacturing and Retail. The compliance role covers all types of US Federal and State excise tax filings, including fuel tax filing obligations. The advisory support includes due diligence reviews, structuring assistance, licensing research and consultation, controversy support, interpretation and consultation related to new legislation, and reviewing related correspondence prepared by junior staff. Examples of taxes include air transportation excise tax, alcohol and tobacco excise tax, the PCORI fee, Superfund excise tax, and firearms/ammunition excise tax. This position also reviews work of and coaches and develops others on the team. Your Key Responsibilities

You’ll spend time on diverse projects, supporting client engagements by collaborating with team members, delivering quality work and meeting deadlines. You’ll provide lead compliance support to the engagement team, supervise assigned seniors and analysts, communicate with clients, offer tax technical recommendations and resolve engagement issues. You’ll work in a highly collaborative culture where sharing information is essential. Demonstrate an effective understanding of excise tax concepts and apply tax knowledge to client situations Support the team in delivering quality tax planning approaches with timely, responsive services and work products Assist in identifying and engaging clients in opportunities for excise tax compliance, planning, and other services Prepare practical approaches to client tax situations and reach appropriate conclusions Develop recommendations and implementation plans in complex areas Stay up to date on trends, developments and legislation affecting clients Research advanced tax issues and develop practical solutions Administrative Function

Lead and coach team members in managing engagement lifecycle and engagement economics for the practice Responsible for financial and economic health of managed engagements Skills And Attributes For Success

Ability to lead client discussions, monitor commitments and deadlines, and drive internal teams to completion Collaborate with clients and colleagues to analyze tax issues and recommend solutions Support the compliance team with data analysis for compliance and tax calculations, and provide recommendations Independent and objective decision making Know when to ask questions or proceed with tasks Receive guidance from more senior team members Ability to analyze federal and state statutes and related regulations and apply to current facts Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent preferred) Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a professional services or tax services organization Excellent organizational and verbal/written communications skills Effective time management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced professional services environment Strong research skills; experience with Westlaw, CCH, RIA, etc. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Effective knowledge of excise tax concepts Computer proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint Willingness to travel as needed and to work in a balanced hybrid environment Preferred
