Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Remote)

GEICO is seeking a Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist to support the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams. This role requires a strong functional and technical Finance Systems background to drive capture, transformation, and utilization of Finance data to meet business goals. The Staff Engineer, Finance Data Specialist will report to the Senior Manager of Finance Data & Analytics and will design, build, maintain, and support a Finance Data repository to support FP&A processing and analytics, serving as a central source of truth for financial data and supporting the larger Finance organization’s needs. Responsibilities Leverage functional and technical systems expertise to drive solutions that meet current and future Finance needs Engage in cross-functional collaboration across the software lifecycle Lead design sessions to ensure well-designed, efficient systems that meet business expectations Collaborate with Finance Leaders (FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems) and Data Engineering/Finance Technology to align on goals Help establish a vision and technology roadmap to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse Understand finance data lake/mart concepts and data processing using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT) Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent) Develop roadmaps for Revenue and Expense analytics solutions Influence stakeholders and manage expectations across the organization Support governance, SOX compliance, and audit readiness Engage with Business and Technology discussions to align with long-term Finance and Technology goals Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications Share best practices and improve processes across teams Qualifications 15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft) 3+ years implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred) 3+ years working with a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and Financial Reporting tools Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling Proficiency with data processing/ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.) Strong SQL skills for writing, debugging, and optimizing queries and ETL jobs Experience with Financials via major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP) Finance domain expertise to translate processes into system solutions Understanding of FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting Experience implementing or supporting Revenue/Expense analytics (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance Knowledge of project management principles and best practices Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work in fast-paced environments Experience with software development life cycle Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience Annual Salary $115,000.00 - $260,000.00 The GEICO salary range is a general guideline. Final offer depends on factors including scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and location.
