The power generation market continues to grow and evolve with strong capacity demand signals. HDR's national Power Generation team is positioned for growth. We are seeking a qualified Senior Mechanical Power Engineer to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Engineer of Record or Owner’s Engineer.

Responsibilities
Lead the project mechanical team and coordinate with other engineering disciplines; monitor and communicate project status; provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on technical and contractual levels.
Deliverables include construction drawings, bid specifications, sizing calculations, technical memos, bid evaluations, code reviews, feasibility studies, reports, and cost estimates.
Work on power generation systems including simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, and RICE projects.
Project roles may include lead mechanical engineer, project engineering manager, and possibly project manager; most tasks are performed collaboratively with engineers and designers from multiple disciplines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation design
Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license
Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
Demonstrated commitment to being an active participant in an employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design
Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise
Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation
Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm
Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects
Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs
Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget
Travel less than 10% for client meetings and project site visits
