UNSW is one of the top 20 universities globally (QS rankings 2026); teaching and research institutions, driven by our new strategy, progress for all. As UNSW sets its sights towards its 100‑year anniversary, our mission is to establish UNSW as Australia’s global university. UNSW Medicine & Health is an international leader in learning, teaching and research, co‑located with several of Australia’s finest hospitals and research institutes. The Faculty has a new Health Translation Hub that will open in November 2025.

The Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS), established through a 10‑year partnership between Cancer Council NSW and UNSW Sydney, aims to advance health and prosperity for all cancer survivors through innovative research. Working with survivors, researchers, clinicians and community, the Centre will co‑design, evaluate and implement evidence‑based interventions to improve care, wellbeing and survivorship outcomes.

Research Lead Opportunities UNSW Sydney and Cancer Council NSW invite applications for four senior academic positions (Level D/E) within the newly established ARCCS.

Role The Research Leads will report to Professor Bogda Koczwara and shape the Centre’s research strategy across four major themes:

Person‑Centred Care in Cancer Survivorship – advancing holistic, equitable and empowering models of care that place survivors at the heart of the health system.

Behaviour and Health – exploring behavioural, psychological and social factors that help cancer survivors maintain and improve their wellbeing after diagnosis.

Survivorship Epidemiology – investigating long‑term health outcomes, quality of life and disparities in survivorship through large‑scale and data‑driven research.

Precision Survivorship – pioneering tailored approaches to survivorship care informed by molecular, genetic, behavioural and environmental factors.

These roles offer an exceptional opportunity for accomplished academic leaders to advance world‑leading survivorship research, build national and international partnerships, secure competitive funding and mentor the next generation of researchers.
