Job Summary
Position: Pharmacy Operations Manager – Retail / Community Pharmacy. Full-time. Hourly $22.50 - $31.00. Salary range as stated.
Responsibilities
Accountable for day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities; ensures efficient workflow and positive patient experience.
Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision; supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within policies and regulations.
Select, schedule, develop pharmacy technician personnel; lead training, coaching, performance management; make performance decisions including discipline and termination.
Engage customers, greet, assist product and service requests, resolve complaints, model service best practices.
Assist pharmacist in patient care delivery: registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, verification; compose patient calls under pharmacist supervision; administer vaccines, health screenings, other allowable health services.
Delegate, direct, assign non-clinical work; ensure tasks completed on-time, hold others accountable for efficient workflow.
Prepare and file reports and records required by company and government agencies.
Manage core pharmacy workflow; coordinate daily schedule; recommend allocation of pharmacy hours; maintain pharmacy cleanliness, orderliness, adequate supplies.
Execute business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management tasks not requiring pharmacist licensure; prepare annual inventory.
Drive technology/process roll-out, champion change, engage team around action planning; maintain operation and maintenance of department equipment.
Ensure compliance with Walgreens policies on Good Faith Dispensing, asset protection, diversion monitoring; communicate prescription errors to pharmacist; adhere to continuous quality improvement program.
Manage insurance claim processing, follow-up with insurance companies and medical providers; participate in third‑party audit.
Support Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality and customer service.
Manage community outreach portal; coordinate and assign pharmacists to off‑site immunization clinics and community events; build retail partnership relationships.
Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
One year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital setting.
Fluent reading, writing, speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).
Preferred: Previous people management/leadership experience.
Preferred: Previous work experience with Walgreens and exceeding expectation on last performance evaluation.
