Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where permitted by state and federal laws/regulations. Ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Manage training, coaching, and performance; make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Engage customers and patients by greeting them, assisting with products and services, resolving complaints, responding to requests promptly, and modeling customer service best practices. Develop relationships by anticipating needs and promoting healthcare services through the pharmacy. Assist the pharmacist in patient care delivery including patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification where allowed by law. Support healthcare service offerings including vaccines and health screenings where allowed by law. Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy in accordance with policies and laws; ensure on-time task completion and accountable workflow. Prepare and file reports required by the company and government agencies; manage core pharmacy workflow and daily activities; ensure the facility is clean, stocked, and organized. Manage inventory and recordkeeping; ensure compliance and security of pharmacy operations; support recordkeeping and security safeguards in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager. Drive the rollout of new technology and processes; engage the team in action planning; monitor equipment operation and maintenance. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policy during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities and ensure the elements of Good Faith Dispensing are met. Support diversion monitoring and report concerns impacting pharmacy security; communicate prescription errors and participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Assist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service; coordinate community outreach and immunization events as directed. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including disciplinary actions; follow policies to discipline, suspend, or terminate as appropriate; hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness; drive engagement and action planning to improve performance. Oversee technician hiring, on-boarding, training, and scheduling; ensure timely training completion and adherence to company policies. Identify gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge and support teammates through training or learning modules. Ensure licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant; document status using company resources. Follow procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by policy and law. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification or equivalent and pursue ongoing knowledge in pharmacy and healthcare; complete required certifications and training as needed. Engage in professional development, seek feedback, and leverage mentorship. Communication
Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from support centers or key emails; participate in store/pharmacy meetings and weekly check-ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician in retail or hospital settings. Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) where required by location. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Prior Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on the last performance evaluation.
